Devoted to Righteousness

Now that we have been crucified with Christ and our sin has been put to death in its eternal effect and its earthly essence we are no longer slaves to sin. Christ has replaced the grip the sinful nature had on our souls with the power of the Spirit working in us to draw us to Christ and away from sin. Therefore, if we devote ourselves to the work of the Spirit we will become slaves of righteousness. This is a work that Christ has done in us and we have not done through our hard work, effort, or strength. It is a work that Christ has done through the Spirit in us, because apart from the Spirit we would never have wanted to.
